Construction Started on Rabbit Branch Bridge -- Old Bridge Removed

Construction has started on the Rabbit Branch Bridge.  The first step was taking down the old bridge, which was completed today, December 18, 2025. The next step will be placing the bridge anchors to hold the replacement bridge in place, which will take place on Monday, December 22 (weather permitting). The estimated completion date for the bridge replacement project is mid-January, 2026.  All these projections are based  on sufficient good weather for work to proceed.

The Fairfax County Park Authority (FCPA) understands that the bridge being out of services is an inconvenience to all those who walk around the Lake circuit trail. They ask everyone for safety reasons to stay clear of the work area.
